We (the news media) are not pawns in NBC’s giant ratings #fail. All they want is that sweet, sweet advertising money. And you know what they are doing to get it? They are trying to embargo legitimate breaking news events (like, say, the greatest Olympian of all time winning yet another gold medal) by encouraging this “no spoilers” culture. The Olympics is not American Idol. It’s not The Voice. It’s the freaking Olympics! We (again, the news media) have a duty to tell you (readers) what is going on in this world, no matter who or what demands we keep that information silent—especially if those reasons are purely financial for the organization trying to control the information. Sorry if we ruined your Thursday night, honestly!, but if it’s news, we’re going to share it. We don’t work for NBC.
*ducks*
